This week our #MeetThePT saw us sit down with Brendan Rawlings, owner and head personal trainer at B2B Fitness Dubai.
Describe yourself in 3 words
Ambitious, Creative, Moral
Fun fact about you
I can drink a pint of beer in under 2 seconds… non alcoholic obviously 😉
How did you get into health and fitness?
It started in GCSE P.E and it escalated to Sports Science at University!
What areas do you specialise in?
Rapid fat loss, rugby coaching, strength and conditioning
Why do you love your job?
The freedom it gives me as well as working with people in a positive environment
What’s your biggest tip for anyone new to working out?
Get some professional advice to ensure the correct technique and routine, that way you will be training safely and effectively.
What’s your top exercise tip?
Master technique before increasing the weight!
What’s your favourite exercise?
Personally, I like Clean and Press, apart from being effective there’s something satisfying about lifting something heavy above your head #caveman!
What are your 3 essential gym songs?
Animals by Martin Garrix, Freaks by Timmy Trumpet and Faithless Insomnia but I’ll flip between Dance and Hip Hop depending on my mood.
What annoys you in the gym?
It’s actually trainers that work for the gym not correcting member’s techniques; I feel as a qualified PT I have a responsibility to help people and that includes stopping someone from hurting themselves.
What’s usually in your fridge?
Beef fillet Steak and broccoli
What’s your best nutrition tip?
Everything in moderation, it’s only a small percentage of people that have the desire to eat chicken and brown rice for months at a time and many trainers make the mistake of trying to convert the general population to eating like a monk but it fails more often than not. I promote eating real food in a balanced way. Treats with natural ingredients are fine and shouldn’t be seen as a cheat. As long as your training is balancing the calories out you’ll stay on track.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Being from Devon – Definitely a cream tea, luckily very difficult to find a proper one out here…might have to speak to Gavin about that!
How did you find out about Pura?
A friend of mine was raving about it!
Why would you recommend Pura to your clients?
It’s healthy food that tastes great. Pura measure everything for you so you can relax and let us take care of your training. With this two-pronged attack on their fitness and nutrition they are guaranteed the best results! Plus they have a great team with a good ethos.
Describe Pura in 3 words
Yummy, calculated gains
What’s your top overall health tip?
Eat natural foods and do something that makes you sweat every day, preferably activities that make you happy
What’s your motto?
For fitness: If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got.
For life: Be the best that you can be and carpe diem.
