This week we headed down to the Palm to sit down with Paul Boyes, personal trainer at FLFitness.

Fun fact about you
I’m an animal lover – except weird stuff like spiders and reptiles!

How did you get into health and fitness?
I started training from a very young age with the goal of improving my physique and physical performance, and I haven’t stopped since!

What areas do you specialise in?
Body composition and mindset

I love how particular training and nutrition methods influence how the body works and changes. From health to aesthetics, I like how the slightest tweaks can cause such big changes.

I also like that by manipulating various factors we can sculpt the body we want. Seeing all of this manifested in my clients, whilst they’re achieving their goals and the positive influence this has on all areas of their life is truly very rewarding.

What’s your top overall health tip?
My overall health tip would be to make your health a priority, a healthy body is much more likely to progress.

What’s your motto?
You only get one body, look after it! Also, train the mind as if it were a muscle in itself.


What’s your biggest tip for anyone new to working out?
Be consistent, this is a marathon not a sprint! It’s no good just training for a few weeks sporadically – it has to be part of your lifestyle day in, day out.

Train hard but train smart!

What’s your favourite exercise?
I don’t really have a particular favourite exercise, but one that ticks a lot of boxes is the deadlift.

What are your 3 essential gym songs?
I listen to a lot of deep, tech house when I’m in the gym, you can’t go wrong with a bit of Hot Since 82!

What annoys you in the gym?
People not tidying their stuff away.


What’s usually in your fridge?
Pretty much just Pura!

What’s your best nutrition tip?
Be disciplined and educate yourself.

With discipline comes consistency which is key for long term success, and educating yourself on nutrition instead of blindly following what someone tells you will also give you great longevity

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Ice cream and bread are my biggest cravings when I’m dieting – obviously not together though, that’d be weird!
